Kailee Viator Batson is a mixed media visual artist based in southeast Texas. She received her BFA in studio art from Lamar University in 2013 and has worked in a variety of media throughout her career. Her work has been exhibited in multiple solo and group exhibitions throughout the area, including works ranging from paintings to sculpture. Most recently she has mainly been producing heavily layered and texture collage work on canvas, as well as in her altered book journals.
Batson works full-time as a tattooer in Beaumont, TX at her pseudo-private tattoo workspace, Iron Gate Studios. Her tattoo work can be described as illustrative, largely depicting plants, birds, and insects. She soon wishes to bridge the gap between her fine art work and tattooing by translating her collage paintings into tattoo-able designs.
When not working, Batson enjoys spending time with her husband, Trevor, and their two cats. Trevor and Kailee reside in Kountze, TX in a beach-house style residence in the middle of essentially the Big Thicket. She also loves reading classic literature and fairytales, cooking, and lifting weights. She also holds a blue belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and has competed (and won a few!) in some tournaments.
